Yeah, I have doubts about Going Anon too. In their early messages they are clearly a Brazilian fan, and clearly an ESL speaker. Then suddenly it shifts and that element of their personality disappears entirely, and they become a mysterious emoji anon insider. They remind me of that ts-emoji-anon blog, who would basically do the same thing - post a string of emojis that were related to Taylor in broad, basic ways, and then let other people get all excited and attribute meanings to them that were never there. This feels the same. Contract, football, two girls kissing, angry face, beard . . . I think they're just throwing their best guess out there, so they can bask in the attention when something seems to stick. The emoji blog did this too and got decent traction around here, until they revealed themselves as a Swiftgron shipper and started encouraging people to believe they were actually Taylor. At which point the red flags became obvious to everyone and it all fell apart.

I'm not saying we should dismiss the Going Anon out of hand. Some of their more unusual emoji selections could still hit, and that would be definitive for me. Stuff like the 🤰🏾 emoji would be hard to refute. If that happened, I would say the original Going Anon probably had their identity stolen, because things were getting heated around here with the heavy 🏈 stunting and . . . someone . . . saw an opportunity to calm the waters.

I can see why people doubt, though. The anon's hit rate is poor, they're too vague and they post too much, which is often a sign of an attention-seeking person getting high off the thrill of being noticed. The vibe just feels off. But I guess time will tell.

I think this is stylistically my best work this year. I actually put in effort into figuring out why I wanted to tell the story I was telling, into the word choice and description, into making sure it behaved "as intended." It tries to actually say something, and I believe it succeeds. Although it is also a bit of a "mortifying ordeal of being known" work for me too.

I'm so glad I chose to write a bunch of short stories for Albert's birthday. It was a very fun exercise, and I got to try out a bunch of pairings I haven't otherwise written. I hope to repeat the experience with different characters at some point.

Relay / What Louis Wants (M(ature) & (Explicit), alwill and moriarthree)

I regret not continuing more of this series -- it is fun and I still have additional headcanons I want to describe via a third fic (or more). I just have so many other wips now. I really enjoyed Louis' perspective in the first chapter of What Louis Wants, and I really think I managed to capture what I wanted of the AW relationship very well in Relay, it wasn't just smut.

I’ve long spoken up against the death penalty, a punishment so cruel, inhumane, and riddled with error and malice that it should have no place in our modern world. Its proponents claim it deters crime, yet nothing could be further from the truth – and study after study refutes that claim. Look anywhere in the 55 countries that retain the practice: the death penalty doesn’t make communities safer, has no noticeable impact on crime rates, whilst wasting precious resources that could be better used elsewhere.  

The truth is that – more often than not – the death penalty is used as a tool of repression and totalitarian control. Countries like Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Nigeria, and Pakistan hold thousands of people on their death rows – most detained under bogus allegations and convicted without any regard for due process or equality before the law. Many are never executed, but that is not the point. Here, capital punishment is a convenient tool to silence any form of dissent and take inconvenient critics out of circulation.

Even in nations that take pride in the fairness and transparency of their criminal justice system, the death penalty is marred by terrifying institutional failures. In the US, 195 individuals have been exonerated and freed from the country’s death rows since 1973, often the result of new evidence or DNA testing, but also revelations of gross misconduct by investigators and prosecutors. It’s an astonishing statistic: for every eight people that were executed in the US, one innocent person has been freed, often after languishing on death row for decades. With a rate of error so egregious, it is feared that a significant number of those that were executed may have been innocent, too.

I am particularly troubled by the disproportionate use of the death penalty against those who are often already at the margins of society – ethnic and other minority groups, the poor, or people with intellectual disabilities (note that in many places, those characteristics intersect).

In Uganda, years of anti-gay hate and propaganda fuelled and funded by US evangelical groups have not only forced much of the country’s LGBT+ community into hiding, but a terrifying new “anti-homosexuality” law seeks the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality”. The first individuals have already been charged under this legislation, and I fear that it will lead to a spiral of hate and discrimination.

Iran has seen a sharp rise in the number of those who were brought to trial in the wake of the democracy protests of the last twelve months, following the brutal killing of Mahsa Amini. Dozens have been executed, and hundreds more are feared to be sentenced to die, simply for challenging the corrupt regime and demanding human rights.

Equally disturbing is the repeated use of the death penalty to punish non-violent drug offences, whether in Iran or Singapore. Those executed are almost without exception small-scale traffickers, already at the lowest rungs of the illicit drug supply chain, and often bullied, pressured and coerced by violent drug cartels. Their senseless deaths make no difference to the global drug trade, their ranks are easily replenished by others in similarly dire circumstances.

Having followed capital cases around the world for many years, I think there is neither fairness nor justice in the death penalty. As my friend Bryan Stevenson has pointed out:

It’s an imperfect sentence administered by imperfect people.

And that alone should be reason enough to end it.

I know this software has been rated very very highly,

I think I've used it before, for whatever I'm going to mention, but then somehow I got distracted and went on to use something else, and just lately, I am back to appreciating it!!!

for eg. screen capture, I used to use another software to screencap my video, video that I'm watching, (ya, for other blogging/writing/reivew purpose, whatever you call it!)

and my PC is getting older and older, slower and slower, till I've to search other simpler way to do this, oh ya, same goes to creating gif, ie. video to gif...

I've been using ScreentoGif for a long time, as long as I'm using my windows PC,

and yes, I love the MacOS-only Giphy Capture, but as you can see, it's MacOS only!!!!!

I searched up and down, and failed,

then, I came back to vlc again, I thought... ah!!! I've been restricted by a pattern that I have created throughout the time...

I thought, to make gif from video, you play the video, get an overlay capture software to do the gif,

but then, there's video to gif conversion,

I've been restricted by my own thought, I thought, doing the overlay thing will be more straightfoward and faster, THAT!!! is if I've a fast and new PC, using ScreentoGif (it's a great software though!! but of couse, Giphy Capture is the best!) is too slow...

slow till, maybe I break it down to a few steps to create gif, will be faster!!!

then, I figure out how to do it, take "picture" is easy,

doing the gif thing it goes like that, again, my bad!!!! I've been using avidemux to cut my video, and now, I find using vlc is just soooooooooooooo convenient and fast!!!!! blindme!

I should have started using looooooooooooooooooong time ago, allllllllllllllllllllllllllll this while!!!

so, what I now do is, if it's a long video, then, I use vlc to record certain section, it'll be in .ts format,

with the .ts, I then go to ezgif to convert to gif...

if it'll be .mp4 it's better, cos, it can be played on the ezgif website while picking your start-end time...

but then, if the .ts file is a straightforward thing, no more editing need, ezgif instead, can convert it like a breeze!!!!

gosh!! I should have started using it loooooooooooooooong time ago, with my struggling slow PC...

and that, with ezgif, the gif I want, will be generated, better still is, I can resize on the fly, and make sure it's small enough to deliver the message, that's all, it doesn't have to be super clear HD form, anyway!!!!!
